Always choose the local currency of the establishment.
- In Brazil → choose Real (BRL).
- In Portugal → choose Euro (EUR).
- In the USA → choose USD.
Why does this matter?
- If you choose to “pay in dollars” outside the USA, the merchant's machine may apply additional fees and unfavorable exchange rates.
